To a lot of people, blogging can seem like the perfect career.
You get to be your own boss, set your own schedule and work from wherever you want as long as there’s wifi.
Personally, I love blogging as a business and career. It’s easy for me to point out all of the positives and wonderful aspects of blogging.
But it’s not always easy.
So, what about the hard parts? What’s the hardest thing for new bloggers to deal with? Here’s what I think.
The hardest part about starting a money earning blog…
The hardest thing about starting a money earning blog is working without knowing if and/or when you’ll be rewarded.
This can make it very difficult to keep your blogging motivation strong.
Here’s the thing about starting a blogging business: the beginning can be hard to get through.
Why? Well, because a new blog is started from scratch with NO content.
In order to have a successful, money earning blog; you have to fill it up with good quality blog posts.
Having a decent amount of well-written blog posts is the backbone of what makes a blog look established, professional and trustworthy. Those are essential qualities that your blog needs for success.
A new blogger has to put in some work before they can see results. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed, intimidated and uncertain.
- Overwhelmed by everything they have to do to get things going.
- Intimidated by having to write so many blog posts and create something out of nothing.
- Uncertain about whether or not they’re doing things right and if their work will be worthwhile.

Whether you’re thinking about starting a blog or you’ve been blogging for a while; you’re not alone if you feel this way. I felt this way about my own blogs when I starting working on turning blogging into my job.
The thought of putting in a ton of work and not seeing the immediate rewards is off-putting. I totally get that.
Here are a few tips I came up with for those of you who are dealing with the feeling of uncertainty when it comes to working on your money earning blog:
1. Pick A Niche That People Are Succeeding In
Normally, you’d think that picking a popular niche would mean there’s too much competition. This really isn’t the case.
Picking a niche that people are succeeding in means that you have a chance for success too!
Of course, there are exceptions to this. There are blogs out there in obscure niches that are killing it. If you have a lesser-known niche in mind that you think has a demand, go for it!
But if you want to go the “safe” route, pick a niche that people are already successful in.
2. Focus On Putting Out Content
Listen here: publishing blog posts is the MAIN thing that every new blogger should be focusing on!
Don’t waste your time trying to figure out if you should be spending your time doing other things. I’m here to tell you that the answer is no. Publishing blog posts should be your main priority.
Yes, it can be hard to motivate yourself to pump out blog posts when you’re not seeing any rewards and no one is reading them. But you’ll never be rewarded and no one will ever read your blog posts if you don’t write them in the first place.
3. Answer People’s Burning Questions In Your Blog Posts
Trust me here… If you are helping people with your blog posts, they will not go to waste!
What is it that people in your niche want to know? What do they need help with? What questions do they have?
Try to write your blog posts in a way so that people gain something from them. Give them the answers they’re looking for, show them they’re not alone, teach them new things. Help them out!
4. Do Your Research/Find A Blogging Course
While it isn’t necessary to purchase a blogging course, it can be very helpful. Regardless, you should do your research to get an idea of what it takes to create a money earning blog. Here’s my super quick formula for working toward success:
- Publish 30+ good quality blog posts
- Monetize your blog (click here to learn how)
- Promote your blog
Okay, that’s the simplest little list you could ever read. But if you do those three things, you will have the opportunity to earn money through your blog.
5. If You Really Want It, Then Don’t Give Up
If you’ve been blogging for a while and you find that you’re truly not enjoying it, don’t torture yourself. Allow yourself to let go of blogging and find something else more suited to you.
BUT if you really do want to have a money earning blog and/or become a full-time blogger… Don’t give up when times are tough!
Just keep going. I promise, you WILL figure things out if you don’t give up. There’s tons of great resources online for learning about blogging as a business (my blog is one of those resources!).
