Want to know how to be a better blogger?

There are A LOT of bloggers out there, so you need to do your best to stand out from the crowd. One of the ways you can do this is by being the best blogger you can be.

Being trustworthy, helpful and easy to understand are among some of the top goals you should be aiming for if you want to be a great blogger. Along with that, it’s important to have a clean & professional looking blog so your readers can navigate your content easily.

Here are 5 tips every beginner should know to become a better blogger.

1. Be trustworthy

You have to be trustworthy if you want to succeed as a blogger. It goes without saying that a blog doesn’t generate income out of thin air. It’s thanks to the people who read your blog that you’re able to earn money!

Put out content that your readers can trust. If they sense that you’re lying or being lazy with your writing, they’ll quickly click away from your blog.

Additionally, being trustworthy is essential if you want to work with brands. As a blogger, you may want to write sponsored posts at some point. This is when a brand pays you to write a blog post for them, and brands want to work with blogs that are professional and honest.

2. Help your readers with your content

People read blog posts because they want to get something out of them.

While it’s possible that someone will read a few blog posts out of enjoyment, this isn’t normally the case. People usually read blog posts to get information about a certain topic, whether that be a recipe, a tutorial, a product review, etc.

Put yourself into the shoes of your readers. Before you publish your blog post, make sure it’ll clearly give them the answers they’re looking for.

3. Have a clean & professional looking blog

The last thing you want is for your readers to have trouble looking at your blog, so keep readability in mind when picking your blog’s theme, colors and customizations.

Stay away from messy themes and avoid putting so many ads on your blog that it runs slow. A clean blog with an appropriate number of ads (if you decide to use them) will be much easier to navigate. Plus, the experience of being on your blog will be enjoyable for the reader.

I highly recommend setting your blog’s font size to at least 14 point. That way, the majority of your readers will have no problem viewing your content.

4. Be easy to understand

Make your content is easily understandable.

Work on your blogging skills. Write your blog posts with good grammar, punctuation and a strong writer’s voice. Avoid using uncommon vocabulary and adding in too much “fluff” (unnecessary information).

If you have trouble with grammar, consider using a tool such as Grammarly. Grammarly is fantastic because it proofreads your content for grammar and spelling mistakes, gives you suggestions on how you can improve your writing and even helps with your writer’s voice!

5. Be there to answer questions

There will inevitably be times when your readers have questions or want to ask you for more information on a certain subject. Don’t leave them in the dust!

Try your best to reply to readers who comment on your posts or send you emails. Not only will they appreciate it, but it will help you gain more of their trust.

It’s not always possible to get to every comment or message, especially if you have a busy lifestyle. But answering back to people with genuine questions is worthwhile.
